Overview

The Honours Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences – Athletic Therapy is a four-year honours baccalaureate degree offered at Sheridan College's Davis Campus in Brampton, accredited by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and affiliated with the World Federation of Athletic Therapy and Training. The curriculum builds skills in field assessment and injury treatment, clinical assessment and rehabilitation, alongside entrepreneurial business skills and research training intended to keep graduates current in the field. Every year of the program includes field or clinical placement work, in settings ranging from high school and community sports teams to college and university varsity programs and clinical work in Sheridan's own Athletic Therapy Clinic and community clinics, plus a 14-week internship between years three and four. Instruction takes place in facilities including a state-of-the-art Athletic Therapy Clinic with aquatic rehabilitation capability, an Exercise Intervention Centre and a VO2 Max Lab, taught by Certified Athletic Therapists with advanced degrees in rehabilitation science, biomechanics and physiology. Completing the program moves graduates a step closer to Certified Athletic Therapist status. It suits students seeking a clinically and field-placement-intensive route into athletic therapy practice.
