Overview
The Labour Studies Certificate is an interdisciplinary program offered through the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan, delivered at St. Thomas More College. It requires 27 credit units of coursework drawn from Political Studies, Sociology, History, and Economics, covering collective bargaining, labour law, labour policy, and the economics of work. The program exposes students to multiple theoretical perspectives on work, unionization, collective bargaining, and labour market issues. At least half of the required coursework must be completed at the University of Saskatchewan to satisfy residency requirements. The certificate can be taken alongside a degree program or completed after graduation, and is intended to give students a practical understanding of labour relations issues encountered when entering the workforce. It is administered by the College of Arts and Science and does not itself confer a degree.

Admission Requirements: Direct entry from high school is available. The College of Arts and Science sets a minimum admission average of 70% on five subject high school average, or 60% on 18 or more transferable credit units for applicants with prior post-secondary study. English proficiency follows the University of Saskatchewan's general undergraduate standard: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum 6.0 per band), TOEFL iBT 86 overall (minimum 19 per section) for tests taken before 21 January 2026 or 4.5 overall (minimum 4.0 per section) on the scale used from that date, Duolingo English Test 120 (minimum 100 per subscore), PTE Academic 63 (minimum 59 per skill), or CAEL 70 (minimum 60 per skill). A non-refundable application fee of $120 CAD applies.
