Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering provides a broad understanding of engineering principles within Applied Sciences before selecting one of four Engineering programs. Core focus on topics in electrical engineering, including communications, electromagnetics, microsystems, nanotechnology, power systems, and electronics. You can participate in co-op experience to support classroom learning and work experience related to your field of study.

Admission Requirements: This Electrical Engineering program page does not publish its own admission requirements and instead points applicants to UBC's general admission-requirements page, so the entry conditions below are UBC's institution-wide standard for Okanagan Engineering degrees. Domestic (Canadian secondary school) applicants need secondary-school graduation with at least six Grade 12-level academic courses, including English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12, plus Pre-Calculus 12, Chemistry 12 and Physics 12 as this is an Engineering degree; each file is assessed on overall Grade 11/12 academic coursework plus a core assessment on courses relevant to Electrical Engineering, and UBC publishes no institution-wide entry average. International applicants are admitted on a recognised university-preparation credential (for example a completed IB Diploma with three Higher Level subjects, including the equivalent math/chemistry/physics subjects) plus the same Engineering subject prerequisites. The English-language requirement for undergraduate admission is IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no part below 6, or an equivalent accepted test.
Application Details
Start Date:September 2027 - entry is to UBC's Winter Session, which runs September 2027 to April 2028 (Term 1 September to December, Term 2 January to April). UBC also runs a Summer Session from May to August, but not every degree admits to it.
Application Deadline:Apply by 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, for September 2027 entry (Winter Session 2027/28) - this is UBC's university-wide undergraduate deadline and it is the same date for Canadian and international applicants, not a date set by this program. The online application opens in early October 2026 through EducationPlannerBC. Earlier dates apply only to major entrance awards: 15 November 2026 for international applicants (UBC International Scholars Program) and 1 December 2026 for Canadian citizens and permanent residents (Presidential Scholars, UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance and Beyond Tomorrow Scholars). UBC advises applying by the deadline because some programs stop accepting applications on that date; later applications may be considered but are not given the same priority. Document deadlines (transcripts, English-language evidence) are issued to each applicant in the Applicant Service Centre after applying.
