Overview
In the Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology, Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, you’ll be learning how to produce food in a way that protects our soils, water and air, how to manage biodiversity and habitat for the organisms we rely on to help us grow our food, and how to grow food in urban environments. You’ll have opportunities to develop your research skills and build out your competencies through research experience, internships and practicums, co-ops and job placements. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for various careers, such as ecologist, natural resource planner, organic farming specialist, soil fertility consultant, and more.

Admission Requirements: UBC's admission page for this degree gives the standard Science-faculty prerequisites and defers to the university's general English Language Admission Standard for language scores. For International Baccalaureate applicants it requires IB Math Analysis and Approaches at Standard or Higher Level, or IB Math Applications and Interpretations at Higher Level; one of IB Biology, IB Chemistry, or IB Physics; and Grade 11 or equivalent Chemistry plus Grade 11 or equivalent Physics, both waivable with grades of 5 in IB Chemistry and in the IB Mathematics course. English is the language of instruction at UBC and all applicants must demonstrate English-language competency; the institution-wide standard the page links to accepts IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 90 overall with Reading 22, Listening 22, Writing 21 and Speaking 21, among other accepted tests.
