Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Zoology studies animal biology from the level of the cell to the whole organism. This program embraces a broad range of topics in animal biology, such as comparative anatomy and physiology, ecology, developmental biology, and molecular biology. The program provides an understanding of core biology principles and gain practical experience in laboratory analyses, fieldwork, data analysis, and scientific communication. You can participate in co-op education placements to broad your skills and gain hands-on experience in your field of study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UBC's own program page for Zoology (BSc) at UBC Okanagan states IB-pathway prerequisites and defers general conditions to UBC's institution-wide admission standard. Domestic (Canadian secondary school) applicants need secondary-school graduation with at least six Grade 12-level academic courses, including English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12, plus Pre-Calculus 12 for this Science degree; each file is assessed on overall Grade 11/12 academic coursework plus a core assessment on courses relevant to Zoology, and UBC publishes no institution-wide entry average. For the IB pathway the page requires a completed IB Diploma with three Higher Level courses, IB Math Analysis and Approaches (SL or HL) or IB Math Applications and Interpretations HL (IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL and IB Math Studies do not satisfy the requirement), one of IB Biology, IB Chemistry or IB Physics, and Grade 11 (or equivalent) Chemistry, with Grade 11 Physics strongly recommended; for applicants outside Canada, junior-level American courses, IGCSE or O-Level courses may satisfy the Grade 11 equivalents. The English-language requirement is IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no part below 6, or an equivalent accepted test.

Application Deadline:Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
