Overview
The Master of Science in Audiology and Speech Sciences, Speech-Language Pathology sub-specialization, is a two-year entry-level graduate degree offered by the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences in UBC's Faculty of Medicine, and is the only accredited MSc program of its kind in British Columbia. The program combines coursework grounded in the basic and applied sciences with clinical externships across a range of practice settings, building foundational knowledge, research skills, and evidence-based clinical practice for speech-language pathology. It prepares graduates for professional practice as speech-language pathologists. Applicants complete specified prerequisite coursework and must arrange to observe at least one practicing audiologist and one practicing speech-language pathologist before applying. The program is delivered in person at UBC Vancouver with a September intake. It is open only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents; international applications are not accepted.

Admission Requirements: Applicants need a four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a cumulative average of at least B+ (76% at UBC) in third- and fourth-year courses, along with specified prerequisite coursework listed on the department's website. Applicants must arrange to meet with and/or observe at least one audiologist and one speech-language pathologist at work before applying. Non-native English speakers without four or more years of full-time education conducted in English must submit an English proficiency score: IELTS Academic overall 7.0, TOEFL iBT overall 100 (or 4.5 on the 6-point scale), or Duolingo English Test overall 125. Admission is restricted to Canadian citizens and permanent residents; the program does not consider international applicants.
