Program details

Overview

The Canadian Pharmacy Practice Program is a bridging programme designed for international pharmacy graduates seeking licensure in Canada, and for Canadian-trained pharmacists wanting to return to practice or refresh core skills in order to practise pharmacy in Canada.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: UBC's Certified Pharmacy Professional Development program sets its admission path around applicant type. International Pharmacy Graduates must first register with the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities' Pharmacist's Gateway Canada and begin pre-registration with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia, obtaining an eServices ID, and must enrol in the full 24-week program to complete the Structured Practical Training practicum. They must also meet an English-language proficiency requirement that stays valid for two years from the test date and must remain current through application, the registration deadline, and the start of the practicum, though the program does not publish a specific test or score. Canadian-trained pharmacists re-entering practice after a prolonged absence, or updating core competencies, may take individual modules without the same formal entry requirements. All participants must complete an immunization review at least four months before the practicum begins and must maintain a minimum 60% average in the classroom portion to progress to the Structured Practical Training component.

Application Details

Start Date: September, January and May
Application Deadline: Domestic and international undergraduate applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC for Winter Session 2027/28 (September 2027 entry) and Summer 2027: applications open in early October 2026 and the equal-consideration deadline is 15 January 2027, 11:59 p.m. PST, the same date for both groups; a few programs keep reviewing late applications on a space-available basis afterwards. Earlier dates apply only to entrance-award consideration -- 15 November 2026 for the International Scholars Program and 1 December 2026 for Presidential/Centennial/Beyond Tomorrow scholars. Several limited-entry programmes -- Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing (advanced entry), Occupational/Physical Therapy, Social Work and Teacher Education -- set their own earlier deadlines from October 2026 through February 2027. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
