UBC's Graduate Certificate in Clinical Informatics, offered through the School of Nursing in the Faculty of Applied Science, is a nine-credit, fully online program completed over eleven months through three required courses. No prior computer-programming knowledge is required, though basic Microsoft Office skills are recommended before or during the program; the certificate is fully online, and international students on it are not eligible for a Canadian study permit. The program page defers English-language proficiency to UBC's graduate-wide standard for applicants from institutions where English was not the language of instruction: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 90 overall with no section below 21 (pre-21 January 2026 scale) or 4.5 overall with no section below 4 (from 21 January 2026), or Duolingo English Test 125 overall with no section below 115.
