Overview
Health Informatics (T402) is a one-year (three-semester) Ontario College Graduate Certificate at George Brown College for health-care and information-systems professionals who want to advance IT in health care. Taught by seasoned health informatics practitioners, the program covers health-care systems and technologies, electronic medical records, health information standards, requirements analysis, workflow and system modelling, project management and the ethical, legal and policy implications of health information systems. Evening and weekend classes accommodate working professionals, with intakes in January, May and September.

Admission Requirements: This postgraduate certificate accepts several academic pathways. Health-sciences graduates need a two- or three-year diploma or advanced diploma in health sciences or a related field plus at least one year of health-care work experience, or a bachelor's degree in health science with no experience required. Computer science/IT graduates need an equivalent diploma or advanced diploma in IT or computer science plus one year of related work experience, or a bachelor's degree in the field with no experience required. Applicants from other fields need a bachelor's degree with at least a B+ (77 percent) or equivalent GPA in the final year, including those still completing their degree, with the GPA as a condition on any offer. Applicants with international transcripts who do not submit English-proficiency test results must sit George Brown's college-level English assessment instead.
