The Master of Arts in Linguistics & Translation at Trinity Western University's Trinity Evangelical Divinity School combines theological training with linguistic analysis to prepare students for Bible translation and language documentation work. Coursework covers language documentation methods, literacy material development, and translation of Scripture for communities without an existing text in their native language. Graduates are prepared for roles in cross-cultural ministry, missions organizations, translation agencies, and academic linguistics. The program is delivered primarily in person, with online synchronous study available in exceptional circumstances and with program director approval. Full-time completion is anticipated to take between 24 and 36 months, with a part-time option also offered. The program is intended for students preparing for field-based linguistic and translation work in cross-cultural and missions contexts.
