Overview
This postgraduate diploma offers advanced study in bioethics for graduates and professionals from any discipline, deepening reflection on the ethical issues raised by health practice and health research. The 30-credit programme runs full-time or part-time, with day and evening courses at the Montreal campus, and full-time completion takes a minimum of two consecutive trimesters, with up to twelve trimesters allowed from initial enrollment. Coursework draws on humanities, social sciences, law, and health and biological sciences to examine ethical questions in clinical practice and research. Depending on placement test results, students may be required to complete a French-writing course during their first year. Graduates are prepared for advisory, research, and ethics-committee roles in healthcare, research institutions, and related organizations.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from any discipline, including humanities, social sciences, law, health sciences, or biological sciences. Candidates educated entirely in French are exempt from the French-language requirement; others must demonstrate an average of C1 in oral and written comprehension and a minimum of B2 (lower band) in written expression, and may be required to complete a French-writing course in their first year depending on their results. A good working knowledge of written English is expected, since reference materials are in English.
