Overview
This Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières is a four-year, full-time or part-time program based on the Trois-Rivières campus, with a cooperative work-study option available in Drummondville. Coursework is split between theoretical instruction and hands-on practical work in areas including mechanical system design, industrial electronics, applied computing, automation, and manufacturing processes, along with 3D modelling and simulation, industrial robotics, materials science, numerical modelling, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. The degree is accredited by Engineers Canada's accreditation body, allowing graduates to pursue professional engineering designation through Quebec's engineering order. Admission Requirements: Admission to the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering is per UQTR's program-based process, offered in the Autumn and Winter terms. Quebec DEC holders need a minimum R-score of 24 (22-24 reviewed case by case, with possible remedial courses); a DEC in Mechanical Engineering Techniques earns up to 15 credits of recognition, a DEC in Sciences, Arts and Letters needs the Physics course Electricity and Magnetism, a DEC in Natural Sciences or in Computer Science and Mathematics qualifies directly, and any other DEC requires Chemistry, three Mathematics courses and two Physics courses, with UQTR offering matching preparatory courses. University-route applicants need 21 completed relevant credits at a 2.5/4.3 average, and experience-route applicants need five years of relevant work plus the same science prerequisites and one further course. As with all UQTR bachelor's and professional programs, candidates must meet the university's French-language admission requirement, using a recognized test such as UQTR's own TIFEI for international applicants (French nationals with a baccalaureat are exempt). Applicants from outside Quebec need a minimum 12/20 average (10-20 reviewed with possible remedial coursework).
