The Maitrise en enseignement (profil univers social) is a 45-credit Master of Education (M. Ed.) at Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres leading to a Quebec secondary teaching diploma for candidates specialising in social studies. The programme addresses a shortage of legally qualified teaching staff in Quebec schools and offers seven subject profiles, of which this is one. It develops the thirteen professional teaching competencies required for certification and comprises 42 mandatory credits, including three supervised practicum placements of eight to thirteen weeks, plus 3 elective credits. Courses are delivered entirely at a distance by synchronous videoconference (Zoom) in the evening, Monday to Friday, and the programme is offered part-time only. Candidates must pass the TECFEE written French certification exam. Admission is offered in the fall, winter, and summer terms.

Admission Requirements: Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree, normally with at least 45 credits in a discipline closely related to the social-studies teaching profile, and a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on 4.3 (or 12/20); professional experience or particular circumstances may allow admission from 2.8 on 4.3. A satisfactory command of French, oral and written, is required; candidates complete a diagnostic French test (TEDFRA-Enseignement) and must pass the TECFEE written French certification exam. Students must maintain a cumulative average of at least 2.5 on 4.3 throughout the programme.
