This 45-credit, thesis-based master's develops graduate-level knowledge across three areas of philosophy: the study of foundational texts, culture and languages, and ethics and society. Students take research seminars and advanced seminars while producing a thesis that demonstrates aptitude for scientific work and original philosophical thinking. The programme can be completed full-time or part-time on the Trois-Rivieres campus, with admission offered in the fall, winter, and summer terms. Entry normally requires a bachelor's degree in philosophy with a cumulative average of at least 3.2 on a 4.3 scale, or a bachelor's in a related discipline with the same average plus at least 30 undergraduate credits in philosophy at that standard. Applicants with a somewhat lower average may be admitted conditionally, sometimes with additional prerequisite coursework, at the department's discretion. Graduates are prepared to pursue doctoral studies or apply philosophical analysis and argumentation in professional, educational, or public-sector settings.
