Overview
This thesis-based Doctor of Philosophy, offered jointly by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta, specializes in Geophysics. Research areas include fluids in porous media, geodynamics, magneto-telluric methods, paleomagnetism, rock magnetism, rock physics, and seismology, alongside the department's wider strengths in astrophysical sciences, biophysics, condensed matter and atomic/molecular/optical physics, and particle physics, with experimental work carried out at facilities including CERN, SNOLAB, IceCube, and TRIUMF. Individual programs of study are arranged in consultation with the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in Physics.
