Program details
Overview
The Bachelor of Science with Honors in Earth Sciences examines the Earth's structure, its evolution, and the atmosphere above it, drawing on courses from Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Geophysics, and Paleontology for a multidisciplinary view of the planet. As a Bachelor of Science with Honors, the program embeds a research thesis project and requires students to maintain a higher academic standard than the equivalent BSc Major, which is also offered in this subject area. Students may add a minor from the Faculty of Arts, Native Studies, Business, or Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences, though doing so reduces the number of option courses available; a double major is not offered alongside the Honors program. Graduates commonly pursue roles such as hydrologist, meteorologist, oceanographer, seismic observer, soil scientist, environmental health officer, energy policy analyst, or research scientist.
