BA/BS in Education

The Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary certifies graduates to teach kindergarten through grade twelve across Alberta, and is offered through five pathways: a four-year on-campus program; a four-year community-based program with blended online coursework, local practicum placements, and summer intensives; a five-year concurrent program combining the BEd with a Bachelor of Arts, Science, or Kinesiology; and two-year after-degree programs, offered both on-campus and in a community-based format for students in rural or remote areas, for applicants who already hold a degree. Teachable subject areas include early childhood education, English language arts, English language learning, fine arts, French, inclusive education, mathematics, physical education, science, second languages, and social studies, spanning elementary, secondary, and K-12 levels. All pathways include practicum experience in professional teaching settings, along with experiential learning through community organizations and study-abroad options.
