Overview
The Bridge to Teaching graduate certificate helps internationally trained, experienced teachers gain the credentials needed to transfer their skills and begin teaching in Alberta schools. Coursework covers Alberta's curriculum standards, assessment methods, and the differences between international and Alberta teaching practice, and leads to Alberta Teacher Certification for Kindergarten to Grade 12. The program consists of six courses combined with a 10-week practicum placement, and is designed to be completed in eight months of full-time study, with a maximum completion time of two years. Admission requires a four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent, a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale over the final two years of full-time study, two reference letters, a 300-word statement of intent, a successful interview, and a Police Information Check. Applicants whose first language is not English must also meet the university's English language proficiency requirement.
