Overview
This thesis-based Master of Science in Geography covers the relationships between spaces, people and places across physical and human geography. Students combine coursework with a supervised original research investigation, working closely with faculty through one-on-one supervision and small graduate seminars. The program culminates in a research thesis that is defended before a committee. It is full-time, normally completed in two years, with a maximum of four years permitted. Admission is normally in the Fall term. Applicants require a four-year baccalaureate degree from a recognized institution, a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale over the final two years of full-time study, a research proposal, a curriculum vitae, and two reference letters. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the Faculty's English language proficiency requirement. The program leads to a Master of Science credential from the University of Calgary's Department of Geography.
