McMaster's MSc in Geography is a thesis-based graduate degree offered through the School of Earth, Environment & Society in the Faculty of Science. Students combine graduate coursework with independent thesis research supervised by a faculty member, using the school's field, laboratory and modelling facilities and a highly active graduate student community. Research areas span environment and health, social geography, and spatial analysis, among other specializations pursued by the school's graduate faculty. Full-time students normally complete the degree in two years; a part-time option is also available. The program admits for September entry, with applications typically due in January. Graduates gain research training in geography applicable to careers in academia, government, environmental consulting, planning and related fields requiring spatial-analytical and social-scientific expertise.
