Overview
The Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) is an online program offered by the University of Ottawa's Telfer School of Management, combining healthcare and business management education for working professionals. The program addresses the health systems and management skills used by healthcare executives, with coursework covering data and technology, innovation, leadership, and health policy. It is designed for candidates who hold a baccalaureate degree, or equivalent professional experience, and who are working in or transitioning into healthcare leadership roles. As part of admission, applicants complete an online mathematics module, and international applicants complete an additional communication module. The program combines healthcare-specific content with general management education, delivered entirely online to accommodate students who continue working while completing the degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: A baccalaureate degree from a university, or its equivalent, with a minimum admission average of B is required; in exceptional cases the degree requirement can be waived for candidates with 10 or more years of work experience. Applicants must complete the Harvard Online Math module, and international applicants must also complete the Communication Module; GRE, GMAT, or MCAT test scores are also accepted. A minimum of five years of management experience is required, along with two professional letters of recommendation. International applicants must meet English proficiency requirements: TOEFL of at least 100 (internet-based); IELTS of at least 7 in at least three of the four Academic test components and at least 6 in the fourth; PTE Academic of at least 68; or CanTEST of at least 14 overall with no individual component below 4.0.
