Program details
Overview
This is the University of Regina's Bachelor of Kinesiology in Health Promotion, a four-year undergraduate degree offered on the Regina campus, with an Honours option for students pursuing further study. The program focuses on preventive health, teaching students to assess, plan, and deliver health initiatives that address social and environmental factors affecting individuals and communities. Coursework includes Indigenous Health Studies, Advanced Health and Wellness Promotion, and Program Delivery and Management, alongside classes built around community service learning and problem-based learning. A distinguishing feature is a 15-week full-time practicum placement, giving students fieldwork experience applying classroom learning in a workplace setting. Study-abroad opportunities are also available to eligible students. The program suits those aiming for careers in workplace wellness, community health promotion, or public health, as well as students planning to continue into graduate study in public health, health policy, or health administration, or into professional programs such as medicine, occupational therapy, or physical therapy. It combines academic study of health determinants with applied, practice-based learning throughout the degree.

Admission Requirements: The Health Promotion program page does not publish its own admission requirements and instead links out to the university's general undergraduate Application Guide and calendar, so this programme follows the University of Regina's institution-wide policy for the Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies. High-school applicants are assessed on a four-course average, with early conditional admission open to Grade 12 students using Grade 11 marks plus completed Grade 12 coursework; for Fall 2027 entry the early conditional average for Kinesiology and Health Studies programmes, which includes Health Promotion, is 70%. International undergraduate applicants pay a $100 CAD application fee and, unless exempted, must demonstrate English proficiency: IELTS Academic overall 6.5 with no band below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 83 (tests before 21 January 2026; 4.5 overall on the revised scale afterwards), PTE Academic 59, CAEL 60, or Duolingo 120; Health Promotion is not among the Education or Nursing programmes excluded from accepting these tests.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants to the University of Regina apply for Fall 2027 entry with a recommended early deadline of 15 March 2027 for best course selection and a final new-applicant deadline of 15 August 2027; Winter 2027-28 entry has an early deadline of 1 November 2026 and a final deadline of 15 December 2026, and Spring/Summer 2027 entry closes 15 April 2027. International (study-permit) applicants share the same final deadlines as domestic students for each term but have no separate early deadline. Numerous named programs, including Nursing, Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, Indigenous Fine Arts and Indigenous Education, carry their own earlier deadlines instead of the general dates. Admission is not described as rolling; late non-competitive applications are simply carried to the next term the program accepts. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
