Prof.D in Educational Leadership

This Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership is designed for working education professionals and is delivered in a hybrid format combining online coursework with a mandatory two-week in-person course in the first summer, over a three-year, cohort-based structure with sixteen to thirty-two students per cohort. Students progress through ten sequential courses addressing leadership, social justice and equity, Indigenous perspectives, and international education contexts, moving from foundational leadership concepts in the first year to research design in the second and dissertation work in the third. The program is thesis-based, requiring a dissertation grounded in practice-based research that connects theory to real organizational challenges, and students are grouped into smaller Doctoral Learning Teams supervised by two faculty members. Applicants need a master's degree and at least five years of direct experience in educational leadership; no supervisor approval is required before applying. The program does not lead to K-12 teaching licensure. It suits experienced educators and administrators from K-12, postsecondary, or social-sector organizations who want to combine advanced research training with continued professional practice while pursuing a leadership-focused doctorate.
