Program details

Overview

Accounting is offered as a major within the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business, covering the measurement, communication and interpretation of an organization's financial activity. Students complete a common first year of business coursework before choosing Accounting, alongside options such as Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management, at the start of second year. The four-year program can be taken full- or part-time, with direct entry from high school, and can begin at the Saskatoon or Prince Albert campuses or off-campus. A distinguishing feature is an optional co-op placement, allowing third-year students to complete an eight-month paid work term arranged through the school's career services, alongside study-abroad exchanges and the option to pursue a second degree concurrently with Law, Agriculture, Arts or Science. The program emphasizes critical thinking, communication and teamwork alongside technical accounting knowledge, and suits students aiming for professional accounting careers such as auditing, taxation or investment analysis, typically pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant designation afterward through the CPA-PEP program or the school's Master of Professional Accounting.
