Contemporary Asian Studies (Dr. David Chu Program) is an Honours Bachelor of Arts program offered at the University of Toronto St. George campus, with Major and Minor options. The program examines the linkages between Asia's history and culture, its emergence on the global stage, and its role in contemporary international affairs, with courses that are pan-Asian in scope and cover South, Southeast, and East Asia through multiple disciplinary approaches. The Major requires 7.0 credits: an introductory CAS course, 1.0 credit of 300-level CAS coursework, the capstone course CAS400H1, 1.5 credits from a social/political/economic topics group, 1.5 credits from a cultural topics group, a further 1.0 credit from either group or an Asian-language course, and either CAS450H1 or a 0.5-credit methods course. The Minor requires 4.0 credits drawn from the same foundational and elective groups at a reduced scale. Both programs are open enrolment, available to students who have completed 4.0 credits.
