Medical Biophysics (MSc)

The Master of Science in Medical Biophysics is a research-based graduate program offered by the interdisciplinary Department of Medical Biophysics, whose work spans biology, physics, engineering, chemistry and medicine, with a particular focus on cancer alongside neuroscience and cardiovascular medicine. Research is carried out at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Research Institute, and the Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute, among other hospital sites, across themes including biomedical imaging, cancer diagnosis and therapy, cancer mechanisms and models, cardiovascular sciences, data science and computational biology, image-guided therapy and device development, neuroscience, stem cells and regenerative medicine, and structural biology. Students complete 2.5 full-course equivalents, including the continuous course MBP1015Y, MBP1200H and MBP1201H, additional course modules, and an oral examination of their research thesis. The program runs full-time over six sessions, typically two years, with a maximum completion time of three years. Instruction is delivered in person.
