Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Studies is offered through Renison University College, a federated college of the University of Waterloo, with many courses taught at Renison. The program examines how people grow, how societies function, and how social change happens, looking at how individual, collective, and structural forces such as mental health, social relationships, economic conditions, education, and politics shape human interaction. Students can pursue the degree with paid co-op work terms to explore potential careers, or combine it with a minor, a second major, or an Honours Arts and Business option. A BA/BSW Double Degree pathway is also available for students who want a direct route into social work. Graduates commonly move into roles such as community outreach coordinator, social services support worker, health promotion worker, settlement services worker, nonprofit coordinator, advocacy officer, and program evaluator.
