Overview

The Master of Development Practice (MDP) is a coursework-based graduate program that prepares students for careers as global development professionals. The program integrates courses from health, natural, social, and management sciences with a focus on sustainable development, combining classroom learning with practical field placements in countries such as India, Madagascar, and Tanzania. Students gain hands-on experience applying development theory to real-world contexts under the guidance of local partner organizations. The program is delivered on campus and completed full-time over 12 months, with admission offered in the fall term. Graduates pursue careers across government, non-governmental organizations, international agencies, and the private sector, applying an interdisciplinary approach to sustainable development challenges. The program draws on faculty and partner organizations across the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development, giving students exposure to multiple sectors involved in international development work.

Minimum GPA: 75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Applicants require a four-year honours bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a recognized university in a humanities, social science, health, engineering, environmental science, or business discipline, with a minimum of 75% overall standing in the last two years of study. Required application materials include a resume, a statement of interest of up to 500 words, responses to program-specific questions, transcripts, and two references, with one addressing leadership competencies. English language proficiency, where required, is TOEFL 5 (writing 5, speaking 5) or IELTS 7.5 (writing 7.0, speaking 7.0).
