Overview
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Wilfrid Laurier University's Lazaridis School of Business and Economics centres on seven integrated core courses spanning strategic management, marketing, financial management, organizational behaviour, operations management, financial reporting and analysis, and business analytics, followed by electives and up to two optional concentrations such as data-driven business intelligence, entrepreneurship and innovation, or strategic leadership. The program is offered in several formats: a full-time track; a full-time track with an added co-op work term; a part-time track for working professionals with evening classes; and a Sports Management stream delivered in Toronto through a partnership with an outside sport institute. Learning includes applied business research consulting projects, a community engagement component, and case exercises conducted with real organizations. The full-time track and its co-op variant are aimed at early-career professionals and recent graduates, the part-time track at working professionals with several years of experience, and the Sports Management stream at those targeting careers in the sports industry.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Wilfrid Laurier's MBA requires a three- or four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum B standing or second-class honours over the final year (about ten courses). Applicants must also show quantitative ability through one of: two or more years of work experience in a quantitative role, a B+ or better in a demanding quantitative course, a GMAT Focus score of 525 or higher (or equivalent GRE), or a passed CFA Level I. English proficiency requires a TOEFL score of at least 100 overall with a minimum of 21 in each of the four skill areas, or an IELTS score of at least 7. The full-time program (Waterloo and Toronto) does not require prior work experience, though the co-op stream is intended for applicants with under two years of experience; the part-time program requires two years of full-time work experience or six co-op work terms. Full-time studies begin in September; the part-time program admits in January, May, and September.
