Overview
Anthropology is a four-year Bachelor of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University that investigates human cultures, societies, perspectives and lived experiences while building research, communication and analytical skills. Learning is hands-on, combining ethnographic research with community engagement; community service-learning courses let students apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, and in the final year a capstone experience has students conduct ethnographic research and design a project under faculty supervision. Students can join the Anthropology Students' Association, apply to become an instructional assistant, or spend an academic term studying abroad, and the degree can be accelerated to three years in coordination with an academic advisor. A direct-entry Management minor is available, along with optional minors in Teaching, Intercultural Understanding, Legal Studies, Public Policy and Ancient Studies. Graduates pursue careers as archaeologists, archivists, cultural consultants, ethnographers, human resources professionals, immigration officers, journalists and policy analysts. The programme is delivered on campus with September and January intakes.
