Ancient Studies (BA)

Ancient Studies is a four-year Bachelor of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University examining the mythology, politics, philosophies and societies of early civilizations across Europe, Africa, the Near East and the Americas, and how the ancient world continues to shape modern life. Upper-year courses include Ancient Egypt, Magic and Religion in the Ancient World, Crime and Justice in Antiquity, and Food and Drink in Ancient Mediterranean Society. Students build critical thinking and writing skills through a capstone seminar that provides hands-on research experience and develops professional writing and presentation skills. An accredited Arts co-op option lets students complete three four-month work terms, with a reported 99% employment rate among co-op students. Available minors include Management, Legal Studies, Digital Humanities and Philosophy, and students can pursue a combined BA and MBA pathway. The degree can also be completed in three years through accelerated study. Graduates pursue careers in law, project management, publishing, education, policy analysis and public relations. The programme is delivered on campus with September and January intakes.
