PhD in Health Sciences

The PhD in Health Sciences is a third-cycle doctoral programme offered by the Department of Nursing in the School of Health Sciences. It is taught in Greek on the Nicosia and Limassol campuses and lasts 3 years of full-time study, with part-time study also possible. The programme aims to develop researchers in health sciences with the background knowledge, skills and capabilities to add to research and knowledge in the field. Supervised by academic staff, students are expected to become productive members of the research community. Graduates are expected to hold wide-ranging knowledge and skills across health sciences and health services management, to know scientific research methods and to gain practical experience. Career options named by the programme lie in the Cyprus public sector and abroad, including Ministry of Health departments, hospitals and health centres. Learning outcomes include examining public health problems through an ethical and ideological lens and understanding how institutionalised oppression affects population health.
