Overview
Brazilian Studies covers the language, culture, history and society of Brazil. Students learn to read, speak and write Brazilian Portuguese and gain a detailed understanding of the country's social, political, historical and cultural conditions, along with the skills to build links between Denmark and Brazil in business, culture and development work.
Teaching consists mainly of class sessions and study-group work, with presentations and discussions on Brazilian history, business and current politics. Part of the teaching is in English and, later, in Brazilian Portuguese. Most students spend one semester studying in Brazil, which improves their Portuguese and gives first-hand knowledge of Brazilian society. The degree leads on to the Global Area Studies master's programme.
