This three-year bachelor's major in French language and culture is taught in Estonian as full-time day study and has 15 places. It is part of the university's bachelor's curriculum in modern European languages and cultures.
Students study French at a higher level and learn about the characteristics of present-day French culture and society and how they took shape. Teaching is linked to contemporary France through real-life language materials and key themes for understanding modern society, with opportunities to study in France.
Students can combine the major with a minor in another language and culture or another field, or instead choose two separate modules, for example 24 EAP of a language plus 24 EAP of free electives. They can specialise in a narrower topic, gain practical experience and spend a semester or a year at a foreign university. No previous French is needed, and students with earlier skills begin at a higher level.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: No previous knowledge of French is required. First-year students with earlier French skills begin their language study at a higher level.
