FNU's Bachelor of Laws prepares students for private legal practice as a barrister or solicitor, subject to passing the bar exams, as well as for careers as corporate lawyers, public-service legal officers, community lawyers or other roles outside direct legal practice. Admission to the bar requires an additional Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice beyond this degree.
The four-year, 480-credit programme is taught at the Nasinu campus and builds from foundational common law reasoning, constitutional law and legal writing in year one through contract, tort, criminal and public law in year two, property and company law in year three, to evidence, legal ethics and administrative law in the final year, with elective law units chosen in the later semesters.
