Fiji National University's Joinery and Cabinet Making certificate (Level 3) trains students in the Cabinet Making trade through 90 credit points of coursework delivered at the Samabula and Ba campuses. The qualification centres on roughly a year of classroom and workshop blocks covering wood finishes, carcass construction, cabinet door and drawer manufacture, bench and dresser top production, basic upholstery, workplace safety and ethics, alongside a required six-month construction work placement, with the university allowing up to two years overall to finish. Graduates gain hands-on trade skills in cutting, joining, finishing and installing timber products for the furniture and construction industries. Entry is open to students who have completed Year 11 or hold a Level 2 Certificate from a Technical College of Fiji; applicants aged 17 or over who do not meet the standard progression requirement may still be admitted on the basis of maturity, relevant work experience or prior learning.
