Fiji National University's Diploma in Engineering (Automotive), a Level 6 qualification, runs three years on a semester system, with each academic year split into two semesters and every semester lasting six months. Training covers vehicle and electrical-electronic systems, braking, aerodynamics, materials science, engines, hybrid technology, automobile design, and fuels and lubricants, reflecting an automotive sector centred on manufacturing, inspecting, testing, developing and designing vehicles and their parts. Study pairs theory with practical workshop sessions across the qualification, and the final semester carries a six-month industrial placement giving students exposure to a real industrial setting before they graduate, building toward diagnostic, repair, design and manufacturing roles in the sector. Entry follows a pass in Form 6, or alternatively a Certificate IV qualification covering Automotive Engineering; admission is likewise open to Trade Certificate holders, or Certificate IV holders, from any automotive stream.
