This full-time diploma builds technical expertise across forest conservation and biodiversity, climate-change adaptation, nursery management, agroforestry, harvesting operations and the business side of forestry, including value-added use of non-timber forest products. It is pitched to leave graduates ready for employment or self-employment in the sector, while also laying a foundation they can build on through further study or continuing professional development.
The qualification runs over two years of full-time study, combining classroom learning with field-based forestry work. Entry pathways allow for school leavers as well as holders of related forestry certificates, reflecting the programme's role in linking vocational forestry training to higher-level study.
