The Certificate in Official Statistics introduces students to the collection and use of statistics in government and public-sector settings across the Pacific. USP delivers it as a one-year full-time qualification, or eighteen months part time, through its Continuing Education programme.
Six courses make up the certificate, covering introductory economics, official-statistics and population-data topics alongside a university-wide core course and a further economics course. The programme gives students a focused route into statistical work within government and development agencies.
The qualification is delivered on campus through USP's Continuing Education programme, and its part-time option gives students flexibility to combine study with work or family commitments. Graduates typically move into statistical and data roles within government bureaus and development agencies, and the qualification can also serve as a step toward further certificate, diploma or degree study at USP.
