Public and Global Health, Master of Health Sciences (2 yrs)

Global phenomena and global policy decisions affect wellbeing and health across the world, transforming the way we work for health both at national and international levels. Our programme offers a unique opportunity to study both global and public health in an interdisciplinary setting.As a student in the international Master's Programme in Public and Global Health (PGH) you are equipped with knowledge, skills, and tools to work in the complex setting of contemporary and emerging health challenges. The programme is part of the teaching offered at the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Health Sciences Unit. Hence, our interdisciplinary programme in public and global health integrates studies in both health sciences and social sciences.You will acquire a thorough grounding in the core disciplines of public health - epidemiology, health promotion, health policy, health protection and security, health systems, and health economics. In addition, you will grow your knowledge and expertise in global health policy and in understanding the dynamics between multilevel and intersectoral governance and health. The wide range of courses enable you to gain expertise in your areas of interest, including topics such as social determinants of health, Health in All Policies (HiAP), aging, social protection, health and environment, work and health, sustainable food systems and global health policy and governance.Tampere University’s international setting and our programme facilitate developing a global network of contacts and gaining experience working in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. We work closely with the International Doctoral Programme in Epidemiology and Public Health (IPPE) at our unit. You can apply your skills from the courses and your experiences in practice through an internship in Finland or abroad. Welcome to the community of current and future global health experts!
