Master's Degree Programme in Biomedical Imaging, Master of Science (2 years) is a master's degree in Natural Sciences & Mathematics programme offered by Turun yliopisto in Turku, Finland. The programme runs for 2 years. It carries 120.0 credits (ECTS). Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is EUR 12,000 per year.
The programme builds a solid theoretical grounding and hands-on skills spanning many different imaging methods and technologies, and is aimed at holders of a bachelor's degree in fields such as physics, pharmacology, medical sciences, engineering, computational biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, biology, bioinformatics or biochemistry. Graduates are expected to work with different imaging modalities, including light microscopy, advanced fluorescence methods, super-resolution and electron microscopy, and in vivo approaches such as nuclear and magnetic resonance imaging, and to analyse imaging data through bioimage informatics, IT skills and statistical analysis. The curriculum also builds broad knowledge of biomedical imaging as it relates to cell biology, biophysics and biomedicine, together with hands-on laboratory and research experience in projects with an imaging component; depending on specialisation, students gain basic to advanced knowledge in medical imaging, microscopy or data analysis, drawing on an interdisciplinary imaging network in Turku with ties across Europe, the Nordic countries, the United States and Asia, and courses taught by international experts.
