Education for Global Futures, Master of Arts (Education) (2 years)

Education for Global Futures (Edglo – previously called Education and Globalisation) is a full-time two-years master’s degree programme that facilitates global dialogues in and about education, with the aim of critically reimagining education based on social justice and decolonial thinking. It is one of first international degree program in Finland, with students coming from all over the world (we can often find 15-20 different nationalities in one group) informing learning with different perspectives in education. Students spend a lot of time in and out of class together, forming close and long-lasting communities, and are being offered to participate in projects and excursions, and to be agentic in their own educational/research path.Within their Edglo time, our students engage in a transformative experience, working collaboratively in challenging and unlearning truths and beliefs taken for granted, re-imagining education together for more sustainable and peaceful futures. They explore their passions and interests with similarly minded peers, in our student-centred programme guided and supported by our diverse faculty team members. Students critically appraise education in a time of rapid change, by engaging in studies that are multidisciplinary and research based. They participate in academic dialogues and publications, and expand their network with our partners, other students, scholars/researchers and practitioners/educators from North-South-East-West. During their time in Edglo, our students transform into an adaptable, independent and flexible educational experts.Edglo students major in educational sciences and are awarded an officially recognized Master’s of Arts (Education) degree that qualifies for applying for doctoral studies (depending on the final grades).
