— it helps other students.
The Licence Histoire at the Catholic University of Lille examines how contemporary society has been shaped by past events, covering political, cultural, religious, spatial and economic questions across time. The three-year degree is taught on campus in French, in small groups, with a mix of lectures and practical work in archives. It builds analysis, synthesis and general knowledge, supported by geography, political science and the study of foreign civilisations. Erasmus partnerships allow semesters abroad from the third year.
Graduates can move into teaching, archiving, journalism, heritage and cultural work, or research, and diplomacy after further study. The course suits students who want a grounding in history that feeds into public institutions and international affairs.
