Overview

This specialisation trains engineers in materials, covering polymers, composites, metal alloys and ceramics. Its target sectors include mechanical construction, metallurgy, transport, aeronautics, energy and microelectronics. Students learn to apply theoretical, technical and applied knowledge to optimise processing, manufacturing and characterisation procedures, and to coordinate quality management in a company. Materials engineers work in every branch of industry, wherever an object has to be designed and produced, from vehicles and phones to hip prostheses and nuclear reactors. The programme prepares graduates for roles that link materials choices with energy and sustainable development.
