MA/MS in Social Work

This two-year full-time master's blends classroom teaching with supervised practice placements to prepare people for social work. Students examine inequality, poverty, discrimination and social exclusion, along with Irish welfare services such as child protection, disability support and mental health care. Coursework addresses theory and policy across the lifespan, holistic assessment, intervention design, safeguarding and risk, and the writing of professional reports. The course is designed for graduates of social science and related fields, and it also welcomes people with professional or voluntary experience who want to qualify as social workers. Graduates can work in disability services, mental health, family support, prisons, hospitals and child welfare. The programme is aligned with CORU standards and will be put forward for professional accreditation.
