Overview
This part-time, daytime Master of Science in radiography is a research degree for qualified radiographers. It gives them a reason to keep studying and extend what they know about medical imaging and radiotherapy, and it supports career development within the profession.
The course lasts six semesters at MQF Level 7 and carries 90 ECTS credits, and it is studied by research. Applicants considering this research route are urged to read the university's information sheet for research-based Master of Science courses. The university also publishes possible research topics and supervisors for the 2026/27 academic year, and an Expression of Interest Form has to be completed and submitted.
Admission requires an honours BSc granted by the Faculty of Health Sciences, graded Second Class or better, in a field directly related to the planned research. A Bachelor's degree graded Second Class or better in a discipline the Board considers closely related is also accepted, as is a qualification that Senate judges equivalent on the Board's recommendation. For the Clinical Biomechanics area, applicants with a first degree at Second Class Honours or better in a discipline the Board regards as related to the research can be treated as eligible.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UM applies course-specific entry requirements under its regulations and bye-laws. Local applicants are assessed on qualifications such as the Matriculation Certificate, International Baccalaureate, or European Baccalaureate; international applicants hold overseas qualifications evaluated individually for comparability with UM's standards, with no extra requirements beyond the course's own criteria. MATSEC-qualification applicants must apply as soon as they receive their first result slip after the May/June session; students sitting September resits should apply by the course's first deadline rather than waiting on resit results. After evaluation, the Office of the Registrar issues a decision letter. Admission may also be granted via Recognition and Accreditation of Prior Learning (RPL) for undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses.
