Overview

This course covers modern concepts in water policy analysis, applying systems thinking and actor analysis through hands-on methods to structure complex problems and design effective policy processes, addressing the gap between preparing scientific reports or policy briefs and achieving successful policy implementation. It is organised around three linked strands: theory, introducing perspectives on how policy analysis functions and the part it plays in decision-making; methods, covering scenario analysis, actor analysis and qualitative systems analysis; and a project assignment supported by regular feedback from peers and instructors. The course draws on the TU Delft approach to policy analysis of multi-actor systems.
