Organizing Water

This IHE Delft module examines how water management is organised in practice, comparing approaches across the Global South and Global North and the choices involved in shaping them. It treats water management as an inherently complex area that increasingly requires coordination and integration across sectors, stakeholders, and scales, and looks at how the organisation of water management itself keeps changing, whether through infrastructure, regulatory shifts, climate change, or changing civil-society priorities. The module combines conceptual material on how water management can be organised with a closer look at how organising actually happens in practice, using interactive lectures from IHE staff and Dutch and international water-sector experts, a fieldwork-based research project carried out in the Netherlands that applies the concepts to real water management challenges through group work, and an individual reading assignment for engaging critically with core concepts in the field.
