BA/BS in Spatial Planning and Design

Groningen's Spatial Planning and Design bachelor's centres on the physical and institutional dimensions of designing and managing the living environment. Course units cover academic research methods, complex decision-making, spatial computer programs, infrastructure and environmental planning, water management, and spatial planning and design itself, building both analytical and creative design skills across the degree. Teaching combines virtual-reality tools with excursions to real spatial projects, connecting classroom modelling work to how planning actually plays out on the ground. Students have room to pursue personal interests through elective course units and complete the degree with an independent research project. Strong students can also take part in a more in-depth Honours College programme covering a wider range of topics, adding depth beyond the standard curriculum for those who want an additional academic challenge.
