MA/MS in Asian Studies: Japanese Studies (120EC)

The two-year master's combines graduate-level research on modern and pre-modern Japan with a full academic year of study in Japan, split across two semesters at a partner university there. A comprehensive range of topics is combined with a flexible format that allows students to direct their studies toward their own interests and career goals. Admission is limited to a small number of students, taught in small classes with individual mentoring from lecturers, and the time in Japan is intended to build fluency in the language alongside wider cultural and societal understanding.
